This unit explores classic and modern short stories.  Literary terms, story elements, and reading strategies are infused into the unit.  Frequent reading checks/quizzes, graphic organizers, discussions, annotations, and assignments will check for understanding.  Below is an overview of the unit components; not all individual assignments are listed.

Making and Supporting Claims!

Picture Talk:

In this unit we need to be able to make claims and support those claims with textual evidence.  To do that we need to comprehend the text but we ALSO need to make inferences and draw on background knowledge.   With this Power Point we will be doing those same things and then applying those skills to our reading.
