Students will research and report on an inspirational person who has ovcercome obstacles and who has achieved success. The person you research could have succeeded in art, music, acting, sports, science, politics, or another area. However, it must be a real person -- not a fictional character. Also it must be someone you can do outside research on; therefore, you can not write about a parent, grandparent, etc. You need to select someone who is generally respected and appreciated for their contributions to the world. Select someone who overall is (or was) a postive, productive member of society. Students must address the three following areas:
- The Person's Early Life
- How the Person Overcame Obstacles
- His or Her Success
Students will be required to use a variety of reliable resources such as Badger Link and Info Track. To prevent duplication, students must sign up for the person they will report on. Furthermore, students can NOT sign up for someone they reported in another class or earlier in this class. (Don't replicated someone from your DREAMS unit etc.)
Students will create a typed paper on their inspirational person. Students will develop research, paraphrasing, organization, technology, and documenting skills. SEE THE LOWER RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THIS PAGE FOR RELIABLE SITES you may want to us. Many of them have LINKS THAT WILL CITE THE SOURCES FOR YOU. Two or more sources required.
"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will."
Vince Lombardi
