Student Wellness and Mindfulness:
As a parent and educator, my children and students' wellness has always been at the forefront of everything I do. In addition to academics, my students also learn life skills surrounding their mental health and overall wellness. During the summer of 2019, I worked through an online course through Brilliant Mindfulness called, Mindfulness for Teachers. Here I learned the science behind practicing mindfulness and how to practice mindfulness in my personal life and most importantly in my classroom.
We will have daily or weekly mindfulness focuses that help us learn to focus and be present in our lives. These practices and focuses allow us as individuals to response effectively during challenging moments in life.
Weekly calming and breathing strategies are taught and practiced during morning routines and will become the self regulation strategies your child can and will use anytime in life that he or she is working through tricky moments.
As a class, we will learn together how we can support one another, set intentions for our day, and be present in our daily lives so we can fully enjoy our experiences.
I cannot wait to start this journey of wellness through mindfulness and awareness with you and your child.
