Thunder Talk
What is a Thunder Talk?
Thunder Talk is an opportunity for counselors, parents, and grade 8 students to meet and collaborate in order to help ensure academic success throughout their school career and beyond.
 
The Goals of Thunder Talk:
Help students learn about themselves
Help students learn about the world around them
Help students make connections between school and their future.
 
Why Have a Thunder Talk?
Students take responsibility for their future.
Students and parents can share their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.
Parents feel more involved in their student’s academic career.
A connection is developed among the student, parent, and school, ensuring a better chance for success.
 
What Do We Do In A Thunder Talk?
Together, we discuss these topics:
The student’s Individual Learning Plan
Standardized Test Results
Career Interest Profiles
Transition / Extra-curricular activities
Pre-College Planning
 
Where/When Do We Have a Thunder Talk?
 
Conferences will be held December and January.
The conference will be in the counselor’s office which is located in the main office during the school day.
We’ll meet for 30-45 minutes.
