Welcome to Seymour Community School District

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING THE SCHOOL DAY

The Seymour Community School District will add 6 minutes at the end of each school day beginning Wednesday, May 8 to make up for lost instructional time due to weather closures and late starts. The district is short about 150 minutes as required by state Department of Public Instruction rules governing days and minutes of instruction. In lieu of adding a partial day, we will be adding six minutes to the end of each instructional day starting Wednesday, May 8, through the end of the school year. Dismissal on the last day, June 7, will be at 2 p.m. This action will bring us to the required number of minutes.

Seymour Community School District welcomes you to our web site. We invite you to browse our site and learn more about us. You may choose the bar above to browse each individual school building, and the links to the left for more detailed information about programs and departments.

The Seymour Community School District was established in 1963 as a result of the consolidation of numerous rural schools. The district encompasses 175 square miles of land adjacent to the Fox River Valley Cities of Green Bay and Appleton.  The boundary of the school district covers all or part of twelve municipalities in Northern Outagamie and Southern Shawano counties. The total population of these twelve governmental units being served by the district is approximately 17,000. The district's 4K through twelfth grade student population is approximately 2,500.

There are currently five schools that make up the Seymour School District; Rock Ledge Primary Center, Rock Ledge Intermediate Center, Seymour Middle School, Seymour High School and the Black Creek Elementary/Middle School. Our facilities also include a 27,000 square foot Athletic Center that seats over 1,800. The district has an Aquatic Center with an eight-lane competition pool, a zero depth activity pool and a diving well. Our 4,500 square foot Fitness Center features free weights, selectorized machines and cardiovascular equipment.

Our Mission:
The mission of Seymour Community School District is to create a cooperative community of people committed to constantly improving learning environments that enable students to demonstrate their uniqueness as total persons who are active learners, caring members of society, creative artists, ethical stewards, involved citizens, and productive workers.

Our Goals:
We believe that the Seymour Community School District exists to assist all students to develop to their fullest capacity, for their own benefit and for the benefit of their community, their state, their nation and the world. We believe that there are certain attitudes, which should be held by and about the school and community. These include:

•The recognition of each student as uniquely individual.

•That both in theory and practice, the school must show that it believes in the basic worthiness of each individual and in the brotherhood of man.

•The belief that our schools are responsible, not only for presenting the theory of freedom and democracy, but for insuring as well that each student be privileged and encouraged to participate in the democratic process within the school system.

•The realization that the student is more fully served when the community and the schools become cooperatively inter-involved.

•The acknowledgement that curriculum, co-curricular and extracurricular activities as well as methodology should be in keeping with the times.

•The acknowledgement that our schools, working in and with the community, should make a maximum effort to meet the academic, aesthetic, social and vocational needs of each student.
